Lifejackets are fit for purpose
Besto Lifesavers is continuously developing its range of leisure and professional safety equipment to meet customer requirements for personalisation and comfort.
New products include the Besto Comfort Fit Pro 165N and 300N, a new and enhanced series of inflatable lifejackets with ergonomic design for comfort.
The Besto Sailor 50N is a buoyancy aid for sailing designed to offer a high-quality finish, freedom of movement and comfort.
Modern fabric designs have been added to the standard colour options of the 50N buoyancy aids and the 100N children’s ranges.
“At Besto, we feel that lifejacket manufacturers have the responsibility to raise awareness regarding safety and to offer lifejackets that people want to wear,” explained Bob van de Laar, sales and marketing manager for Lankhorst Taselaar, owners of the Besto brand. “Regulations are becoming stricter for a reason but it also important that consumers take responsibility to ensure their lifejackets are functional and have been serviced in case of an emergency.”
And he explained that designing a lifejacket that combines exceptional standards of safety and comfort for professional sailors and heavy-duty use has proved to be one of Besto’s biggest challenges.
The Besto Extreme 300N with options including sprayhood, SOLAS light, side adjusters and double crotch has been well received for its comfortable fit.
In addition, specialisation of equipment for professional rescue organisations has proved invaluable for Besto as it has provided the company with the knowledge and expertise to translate into improvements to the leisure range.
“In cooperation with the Dutch fishing fleet, we designed a bespoke fishing lifejacket fitted with an AIS that the fishermen were happy to wear on the job in tough conditions and tight spaces,” explained Bob. “Together with the Dutch fishing association, we raised awareness to wear the lifejacket while working because it simply saves lives.”
The complete Besto range is available from UK distributor Barrus.
