Survitec approved as DNV GL service provider
Survitec has been granted class-approved service provider status for all DNV GL classed vessels.
The Z-17 certification means that Survitec can carry out safety inspections of all equipment on board a DNV GL vessel including lifeboats, life rafts, marine evacuation systems, fire-fighting equipment and breathing apparatus, as well as conducting annual inspections.
"We now offer customers a true one-stop-shop for all their ship fire-fighting and survival products,” said Mats Hestmann, group quality, health and safety manager at Survitec.
At its three training centres, Survitec trains its team to provide inspection and maintenance services across multiple brands in order to meet ship and fleet managers’ safety requirements.
Paul Watkins, regulatory and compliance manager at Survitec added that whilst global approval for most of the company’s service stations had been in place for some year, some sites had local certification.
“Now we have the global Z-17 approval, we are able to carry out inspection, maintenance and repair work on board all DNV GL classes vessels worldwide,” he added.
The service and maintenance of life-saving equipment is a crew’s responsibility but annual and five-year inspection and testing must be carried out by an authorised service supplier.
