Survitec's rescue boat helps fire brigade
Safety specialist, Survitec, has secured a contract with Babcock International Group to supply the London Fire Brigade (LFB) with its new DSB 470 FR Rescue Boat.
"The tender was won in a highly competitive market place, where the DSB 470 FR thrived in key areas valuable to water and flood rescue - particularly in handling and flood and stability tests," explained Michael Bonney, Babcock fleet engineer.
"Attributes which are of importance when someone’s safety is paramount."
This is the first non-military sale of this particular model which has been tailor made for emergency service teams. Modifications include a low-pressure rapid inflation system plus an aft navigation and light frame. The inflatable floor makes it lightweight and easy to stow.
Mark Hart, Survitec marine sales director, added that the 'product will add a new dynamic to LFB's operations, keeping London’s community safe when on or under the water'.
"We are obsessive about safety and are proud to count discerning customers like Babcock International and the LFB as one of our key partners,” he said.
Survitec first served the LFB in 2002 and has supplied lifejackets and throwing lines ever since.
