TeamO launches CrowdCube campaign
TeamO launched with the BackTow lifejacket harness which was available for sale in 2017, distributed by C-Quip.
The latest products from the company - run by brother and sister team Oscar and Lauren Mead – are an AutoLock Tether and Hi-Lift Lifejacket, both of which will be launched this year.
Now the company –– is launching a CrowdCube campaign to raise capital to fund further product development and stock production.
“Crowdcube is the UK's leading investment crowdfunding platform,” explained Lauren. “TeamO is raising capital to fund product development and stock production for its new designs by releasing equity in the business.”
The AutoLock Tether was DAME Design Award nominated at METSTRADE 2017 and won the overall prize for the Pittman Innovation Award in the USA.
“Tether design has not changed in many years and at its most basic it is a simple hook and line arrangement to prevent a man-overboard situation,” said Oscar. “A standard tether is up to 2m long and this means that in an accident should the user slip over they can fall the entire 2m length.”
The Autolock instead automatically extends and retracts when the wearer moves around a vessel.
“When placed under shock loads it locks so that it is only ever the length that the wearer needs it to be,” Oscar added. “A fall is immediately arrested and more serious injury can be avoided.”
The Hi-lift jacket is designed to bring up to 80% improvement in in-water performance by redistributing buoyancy position, raising the wearer's mouth higher out of the water.
“Both myself and Oscar are sailors, use existing products and can see their limitations,” explained Lauren. “What people need their kit to do has changed radically over the last few years. The feedback from our designs has been overwhelmingly positive.”
