Graham Brown, Sea Sure MD, strongly believes that no matter which ‘flavour’ of Brexit finally emerges ‘we and our customers throughout Europe will continue to do business together’.

He adds: “However, no matter how it plays out it will present challenges. But with challenges come opportunities.”

Sea Sure has strong relationships with its distributors and these will continue to be ‘key to successfully negotiating the minefield of real and fake barriers’.

Graham has not seen any drop off in his sales into Europe since the decision was made to withdraw. “However, we have been asked in recent weeks to provide a Sea Sure ‘Brexit policy’. I think this shows that there is nervousness from end users and I’m sure this means that they are sitting there with a Plan B.”

He says that ‘continuity of supply at all costs’ as the UK transitions is also going to be key.

His motto? “Don’t let the end users down – ever.” He says that once he loses a customer and they source product elsewhere it is very difficult to get them back: “I’m sure that our competitors will be upping their efforts and will see Brexit as a great opportunity for themselves.”

As a business Sea Sure continues to invest in UK manufacturing and has installed a new and more efficient metal finishing machine along with two new CNC machines earlier in the year.

“Developing and bringing new and exciting products to market, being able to manufacture them at the lowest cost and delivering them on-time is the key to success in Europe and the rest of the world.

“Withdrawing into a shell and not investing is definitely the route to disaster.”
