End of life boats

The latest in European news from European Boating Industry

Started in autumn 2013, the EU-funded Boat DIGEST project on boat dismantling and recycling is set to finish after summer this year.

The outcomes and findings of this initiative will be presented during the final conference on Wednesday, 23 September from 10:00 to 14:00 in Brussels (Belgium) at Rue de La Loi 227 (ground floor at Catalan Region premises).

Representatives of the European Union, industry, Member States, NGOs, dismantling companies and journalists are invited to the event, which is free of charge and open to everyone with an interest in boat dismantling.

You can already register now by writing to office@europeanboatingindustry.eu

The conference will give an overview of the activities undertaken during the last two years, ie, the state-of-play on end-of-life boats, the online training programme developed for the staff working at dismantling places, the online awareness training for boat owners and the guidance materials.

Related challenges, such as education, composite waste recycling and circular economy will also be addressed.

More information about the conference can be found in the News section on www.europeanboatingindustry.eu

In the meantime, we invite you to check the Boat DIGEST website on www.boatdigest.eu, where you will find four sets of Guidelines, targeted to various audiences (boaters, marinas, refit companies etc.) and offering some information and advice on end-of-life craft related issues.

An e-learning platform with training and awareness contents for dismantlers and boat owners, respectively will kickstart on the website shortly as well.

We invite you to visit the website and help test the “modules” the project partners have come up with.
