Simon Boulding, person behind the face
How I got into this industry….Completely by accident. I went out on a corporate trip in a Force 7 on a Sigma 38 with a skipper with a beard and a pipe. Gave some free marketing advice to the charter company, increased their turnover dramatically, was offered free shares in the business and moved to the coast shortly afterwards.
Best advice I've ever received.... When selling, don’t accept no for an answer until they’ve said no at least three times.
You should really read.... Positioning, The Battle for Your Mind by Al Ries and Jack Trout – one of the greatest marketing books ever written.
One thing the industry needs less of is.... Businesses chartering out incorrectly coded, or totally uncoded, vessels – always amazes me how much it still goes on.
Most hated buzzword or workplace expression… ‘That’s how we’ve always done it’
Best place I’ve been .... Sitting on top of the Mayan Temple of the Jaguar in Guatemala watching the sun rise over the rainforest. Probably not allowed to climb up it now – it was 25 years ago!
Don't worry about... Brexit. We’ll survive………
Favourite meal… Thai green chicken curry and rice.
How I cope with stress…. Go for a run, or spend time chilling out with my kids, Evie and Alex.
Something about you that people might be surprised by.... I’m insanely scared of sharks, even though I’ve never been anywhere near one.
