Barrus signs with Talamex
E.P. Barrus is to enter the UK chandlery distribution market following the signing of an agreement with Talamex.
The brand is owned by Dutch distributor Lankhorst Taselaar - recently purchased by Brunswick Corporation - and claims to offer one of the most comprehensive ranges of marine products in the industry.
The signing is phase one of Barrus’ plan to place itself as a leading UK distributor, explained Ben Allen, Barrus general manager marine leisure division.
“This new distributor partnership will allow Barrus to be a total supplier to the marine industry and have a unique position in the market,” he said
“The Talamex brand will enhance our existing portfolio of premium brands and provide a solid foundation for the company’s future growth and ambition to become the leading general distributor within this changing market sector.”
The Talamex line-up includes a uniformly branded range of more than 3500 chandlery items, from electrical items to inflatables.
Barrus will be supported by SailForce that will provide national sales and merchandising coverage.
“This latest addition to our portfolio offers a complete single brand chandlery range that no other supplier can currently compete with,” said Tony Power SailForce senior partner.
“Barrus has some excellent products ideally packaged for retail display and we are looking forward to presenting these to our customers. It’s a tremendous opportunity for us.
“It gives Barrus an immediate footprint in the chandlery market.”
Talamex products will be available from Barrus in October 2018. The line-up will add to the Attwood range of products that the company currently distributes. Other brands include Mercury and Yanmar engines, Mariner outboard motors and Quicksilver boats.
Talks are continuing between Barrus and other manufactures about distribution opportunities.
