Ocean Safety supports Team Challenge Racing
RACING SAFE: Ocean Safety, specialist in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment, are supporting Team Challenge Racing’s 2016-18 campaign.
TCR is an offshore youth training programme which develops young sailors on the pathway to becoming ocean racing’s top sailors.
“Offshore racing is very demanding and requires each competing yacht to have a comprehensive safety equipment inventory on board,” said Alistair Hackett of Ocean Safety.
“We are providing all the necessary items including life rafts, lifejackets and harnesses and lines, lifebuoys, jonbuoys, flares, EPIRBs, fire extinguishers and much more,” he added.
TCR’s selected crew, aged 17 to 25, are amongst the top youth sailors in Great Britain. The team is managed by Southampton Business School director Paul Bennett and skipper Charlie Ellis, aged just 17.
Ocean Safety has signed up as an official supplier to the two year campaign which involves a busy programme of offshore races on a Solent-based Farr 52 including the 2017 Fastnet Race and RORC Transatlantic Race.
The Farr 52 has championed many young sailors over recent years who have gone on to compete at top level races including the Volvo Ocean Race and other high profile events.
