GJW Marina of the Year competition
The first Yacht and Harbour Association (TYHA) GJW Marina of the Year competition at the London Boat Show was won by Plymouth's Mayflower Marina.
The award was presented to the Mayflower Marina MD, Charles Bush and his team by GJW Insurance Chairman, Mike Pope, and Sarah Treseder, CEO of the Royal Yachting Association.
Mr Bush, MD, Mayflower Marina, said: “What a fabulous way to start 2014, especially after all the awful weather."
BMF members Poole Quay Boat Haven Marina, Portavadie Marina and ABP Lowestoft Marina were runners up in the category.
The 'Employee of the award', presented by GJW Insurance Chairman, Mike Pope, went to Cara Hodgson–Read from Wiltshire Marina, Caen Hill, who was described as “extremely friendly, efficient, approachable and very welcoming."
The 'International Marina of the Year' was won by Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, a picturesque marina at the entrance to the sea of Cortez. It was also presented to Kenny Jones, executive vice president of the marina, by Sarah Treseder, RYA CEO.
Nominations for the awards were open to all UK marinas that have a Gold Anchor rating and winners of each category were determined by a panel of independent judges who decided the finalists based solely on customer feedback.
