Priddy gets achievement award

Alan Priddy and the Spirit of Cardiff crew have been honoured by the British Inflatable Boat Owners' Association (BIBOA) with a special achievement award, recognising not just the remarkable effort of this year's world circumnavigation attempt, but also Priddy's contribution to RIBbing over many years.

A BBC radio reporter, posing as a buyer for a Middle East security firm wanting to buy landmines, secretly recorded a meeting with David Howell, overseas sales manager of PW Defence.

The award, an antique copper and brass navigation light with inscription, was presented at the association's annual awards dinner on November 30 in Stratford upon Avon.

There to receive it was Spirit of Cardiff skipper Alan Priddy and onboard journalist Clive Tully.
