Canal & River Trust appoints six regional directors

Ros Daniels Ros Daniels has joined Canal & River Trust as regional director, London & South East

The Canal & River Trust has appointed six new regional directors to drive the organisation’s transformation into a charity.

Appointees include Ros Daniels, who joins from English Heritage as regional director, London & South East; Richard Thomas, formerly of the Navy, who takes up the position of regional director, Wales & South West; and Adnan Saif, currently chief executive of the British Muslim Heritage Centre, who is the new regional director, West Midlands.

Julie Sharman chief operating officer at the Canal & River Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome such a diverse and high-calibre team to the Trust.”

Also appointed is Phil Mulligan, who joins as regional director, East Midlands, with experience as chief executive of the Landscape Institute, executive director of the United Nations Association UK, and chief executive of Environmental Protection UK.

Sean McGinley, currently East Midlands waterway manager, is the new regional director, Yorkshire & North East; and Daniel Greenhalgh, senior manager at the Trust and responsible for delivery of major canal infrastructure projects, has been named interim regional director, North West.

Internal appointments include Tav Kazmi, acting waterway manager for the South East, who has been appointed deputy director, London & South East; Ian Lane, waterway manager for the West Midlands, who is now head of operational projects in the West Midlands; and interim head of boating, Jon Horsfall, who has been appointed head of customer service support to lead the organisation’s customer service functions, including boating.
