Changes at Avon Navigation Trust
UK WATERWAYS: Wychavon and Malvern district councils’ managing director and chief executive has become chairman of the board of trustees at Avon Navigation Trust (ANT).
Jack Hegarty has taken helm of the charity as it aims to push forward, while previous manager Clive Matthews has been promoted to Chief Executive of the Wyre-Piddle based trust.
Mr Clive explained: “We are delighted to welcome Jack on board. His wide-ranging experience in local government, partnership working, the Driotwich Canals project and the Canal and River Trust will be invaluable to us as we continue to evolve to ensure Avon becomes more of a magnet.”
ANT has worked hard over the last decade to ensure that the Avon river is well managed and well-maintained.
Its innovations include the unique webcam network, River Watch, which can inform and protect boaters and partnership projects.
Mr Hegarty said: “Through Clive’s leadership the Trust has done a grand job building the Avon’s reputation. I am looking forward to working with Clive and helping the team move onwards and upwards.”
He concluded: “I enjoy new challenges and these are exciting times for ANT. There is a great potential to grow the Avon’s undoubted importance to our area, out local economy and the world of UK Waterways.”
