New chairman for the Electric Boat Association
The Electric Boat Association has appointed Stuart James as its new chairman following the retirement of Jeffery Hide.
Mr James will be responsible for helping the EBA to champion the adoption of electric power generation technologies for UK boat owners.
“I have a genuine love of batteries and boats, having had boats in the family since I was 12 years old,” he said. “I believe that we’re heading into an exciting new era for electric boating with the adoption of renewable energy and new technologies driving towards widespread uptake of hybrid and electric boats in the next few years.”
He added: “I look forward to helping the EBA to lead the industry and continue to support its members through this important time.”
Mr James brings almost 40 years’ experience of the boating, batteries and renewable energy sectors to his new role having run several successful battery companies operating in the marine, renewable, electric vehicle, motorhome, caravan, mobility, security and golf sectors.
In addition to working in the battery industry, Mr James was also a distributor for Fairline Boats, selling yachts in South Majorca for ten years.
